Race Management Participation and Volunteering (2025/26 Season)

Annual Race Management Duty for All Boats

Each year, all boats registered with the club are required to participate in race management duties, contributing to the smooth running of the racing season. This shared responsibility helps ensure fair, safe, and efficient race events for all competitors.

2025/26 Race Management Session Details

  • The first race management session will be held on 25th & 26th October 2025.
  • Duties will cover three venues: Harbour, Middle Island (MI), and Clearwater Bay.
  • A total of five teams are required, each comprising:
    • Race Officer (RO)
    • Assistant Race Officer (ARO)
    • 2 to 4 Results Recorders (depending on the venue)

Acknowledging that many boats have contributed regularly in past seasons, the club encourages a fresh slate of volunteers this year.

Volunteer Sign-Up and Management System

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC) is introducing a new system called Dutyman to help manage race management rostering more efficiently. Dutyman will enable volunteers to arrange duty swaps and manage their race management commitments more flexibly. Further information on Dutyman will be shared as it becomes available.

Volunteer Benefits and Expectations

  • Volunteering is key to maintaining the quality and fairness of racing events.
  • Members gain valuable experience and contribute to the broader sailing community.
  • New volunteers and experienced members alike are encouraged to participate.
